Given the high accolades I received about this restaurant I did go in with high expectations. I found the food greasy and a warmed jar of tex-mex cheese whiz tastes better then their "cheese sauce". The service was adequate and ambiance was phony. All in all I won't go back nor would I recommend it to anyone.

We went here for my father's birthday. It's a fun little place, although it does get a bit hectic on busy days. As we went early in the day and in the middle of the week, the restaurant was only about half-full and so we got great service. We started out with the Mexi-mix, which was a bit much for the four of us considering we were also getting entrees. It was very good, however, and we managed to finish pretty much all of it. I got the red snapper veracruz style and my mother got it blackened. I really liked mine and the salsa was perfect with the fish. My mom said hers was a little dry, which I think the salsa fixed for mine. For a drink, I got their mango margarita. It wasn't bad but it was VERY sweet... pretty much just an alcoholic slushy. It was even rimmed with sugar. Although I enjoyed it, I was really hoping for a proper margarita so it was a bit of a disappointment. This place is great for a low-key fun little meal and although it's not anything special, it's definitely fairly good. The food is definitely good, although maybe a bit pricey for the quality.

Service overall could have been better. The free nachos and salsa were really good. The nachos were freshly baked and very flavorful. The chicken fajitas were really good but there weren't enough toppings between the two of us. The fajitas for two were supposed to be $25 that night but we found out later that they charged us $30. We would have ordered dessert but the fajitas were very filling and we couldn't finish all of them. The smoothie was great and I'd recommend you try one if you decide to visit Under The Volcano.

I frequent Under The Volcano on a weekly basis. The food is fresh and great. As a vegetarian the food options are among the best I have had. The service is always friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is nice and I always leave with enough for a snack later on. I will definately continue to go there.
