You get the feeling that this restaurant might be good judging by the line-up of people waiting for a table. We went on warm weekend evening so did have to wait to get a spot on the patio, but it was worth it. The service was excellent despite the restaurant being so busy. The food was amazing and the value was unexpected - Order a one-piece dinner and you get 2 pieces of fish, order 2 pieces and you get 3, etc. Don't let the line-up deter you, this place is great. Maria's is a Kitsilano institution. The atmosphere is everything you would expect a Greek restaurant to offer complete with pictures of Greek scenery adorning the walls. The food is really good and even my wife who is not the biggest fan of Greek food loves the food at Maria's. I usually have what I had on our most recent visit...one of the souvlaki dinners. Our most recent trip I had chicken souvlaki and the chicken was perfectly tender and the potatoes and rice were great too. Next time you have a hankering for Greek food visit Maria's Taverna on 4th!
